Description

In the arid and semi-arid regions of the country, there is a considerable amount of untapped land resources that have the potential for expanding the production of various horticultural, medicinal, spice, ornamental, and economically significant crops. These areas have a vast land resource of 39.54 m ha that is currently underutilized. The development of arid horticulture is relatively new, and the available literature on many crops of economic significance and their propagation methods is scarce. To ensure the standardization of propagation methodology for large-scale plantation, it is essential to have access to quality planting material.

The research conducted on the production technology of underutilized arid horticultural crops is limited and scattered. Therefore, an effort has been made to compile the existing knowledge in the field of multiplication of semi-arid and arid horticultural plants, specifically in the Indian context, into a book. This book aims to enhance the knowledge base of researchers, scientists, teachers, students, growers, policy makers, and nursery management personnel involved in the development of cold and hot arid lands. The book includes contributions from well-known experts in their respective fields.
